Stencil openings, foil thickness and paste influence the deposited amount and how paste releases from the stencil onto the lands. Checking selected deposits before placement lets us address a printing issue before the same setup is repeated.

Placement ties each component to its feeder or tray, package data, board reference, location and rotation. Part identity and polarity match the current BOM and placement data, and do-not-populate (DNP) positions remain unpopulated. These checks matter because an incorrect mapping or orientation can be repeated along with the placement program.

Reflow melts solder, wets the joint surfaces and forms connections as the board cools. The thermal process depends on board construction, component limits, population and thermal mass. Areas can respond differently, so an oven setting does not describe every joint’s temperature. On double-sided boards, the second-side sequence accounts for components and joints already present, their later heat exposure and the support needed to handle the assembly.

Through-Hole and Mixed-Technology Builds

در through-hole and mixed assembly, we check lead condition, orientation, polarity, seating height and connector alignment. Leads are formed where required and the parts are inserted into the board. The soldering route follows board and component requirements: on suitable wave-soldered builds, flux, preheat, solder contact, copper connections and carrier support affect joint wetting.

On mixed-technology boards, FLJ coordinates surface-mount and through-hole work around insertion access, existing components and joints, and soldering support. A carrier may shield selected areas while leaving target joints accessible, though it does not remove all heat exposure. Sequence and soldering method follow the assembled board’s geometry and materials.

Production Planning and Component Procurement

Quantities, Panelization and Production Loading

FLJ starts with the required finished-board quantity, the panel configuration and the components fitted on each side. More fitted parts create more placement work; package mix and assembly on both faces also affect preparation and sequence. Panelization can place several board units in one handled array, so we relate board demand to the actual panel layout, fiducials and support.

We then include printing, soldering, through-hole work, programming and selected tests in the production route. Product testing needs its own connections, execution steps and handling, including the required load or response observations. Those operations remain part of the work after placement. We plan the complete route against the batch quantity and delivery requirement; a placement rate describes only one part of that route.

Boards to panelsRelate finished-board demand to the actual array and its handling.

Parts to placementsAccount for populated positions on each side and the package mix.

Route to deliveryInclude soldering, programming, testing and handling in the planned work.

Bonhong reel-storage racks — material-handling reference.

BOM Supply and Approved Alternatives

Our component sourcing connects the production BOM with the full manufacturer part number and suffix, purchase quantity and required availability. A previous sample purchase does not establish current supply for a larger batch. We identify unresolved lines and their effect on material readiness so procurement and assembly timing are planned together.

When a listed part is unavailable, FLJ reviews a proposed alternative against the relevant package, pinout, electrical and temperature requirements, including any firmware or test implications. We present the important differences for engineering confirmation before a changed part enters production. The selected identity then carries into purchasing, the assembly BOM and the affected instructions.

Pilot Builds, Tooling and Process Setup

DFM/DFA and Reusable Production Tooling

FLJ’s DFM/DFA review checks how the current board revision and component packages fit the assembly route. Placement access, soldering-tool reach, inspection visibility and rework clearance affect whether work can be repeated reliably. A part that fits on the layout may still be difficult to reach on a populated board; we identify the affected operation so the design or process can be resolved before the main run.

Production setup ties the released design to the stencil, board support, placement program and required soldering or test fixture. For a repeat order, we check whether these prepared items still fit the board revision, component mix and selected checks. A changed footprint or test contact can require revised preparation. Test-fixture access is checked on the populated board, with probe locations, positioning and support considered together.

Initial Build Checks Before the Main Run

FLJ builds and checks an initial assembly using the intended setup before repeating it across the production quantity. The check compares fitted parts with the current BOM and placement data, including component identity, orientation, designated no-fit positions and assembly details. If a mismatch or access issue appears, the setup is corrected and the affected point is checked again before the run proceeds.

When the order requires customer first-article review, the approval point is agreed for that build. This gives both teams a chance to confirm the actual assembly against the released requirements before the same configuration is repeated. The scope of that review follows the agreed product and acceptance criteria.

Board supportPosition and support the actual assembly.

Stencil & programsMatch printing and placement to the selected revision.

Test toolingConnect the board, test access and planned checks.

Production assets prepared for the selected board. Solder paste inspection checks deposits before placement; optical inspection checks visible components and joints; selected X-ray inspection examines hidden joints. The inspection plan connects each method with the board features and production stage it is intended to assess.

When a checkpoint finds an anomaly, we trace it to the relevant operation and examine the setup, material, placement or solder connection. A paste issue directs attention to printing; a shifted component directs attention to placement. We address the applicable cause and recheck the affected work before continuing it, so a setup problem is not simply carried into the remaining quantity.

ICT, Functional Testing and Batch Records

For repeat builds, in-circuit testing (ICT) checks selected electrical nodes through a compatible fixture and program. Board support, probe access and revision matter: a point visible in design data may be blocked by a fitted component or shield. We align fixture wiring, node mapping, measurement conditions and limits with the build. An unexpected reading prompts contact and setup checks before investigation of the affected circuit. Matching units and lots can use the prepared fixture while the design and required checks remain suitable.

For specified functional testing, we establish the required supply, startup state, firmware, inputs, loads, observation points and acceptance criteria. A returned status and an output measured under load answer different questions. We align fixture paths and the execution sequence with the board and firmware configuration. A failed check leads first to verification of those connections and settings, then to investigation and appropriate correction and retesting of the affected assembly path.

Batch and unit traceability connects the build with the inspection and test results required for the project. Relevant board, BOM, firmware and test configuration identities accompany those results, so the delivered batch and later changes can be identified. Record depth and reporting follow the product and order requirements.

Production Pricing, Repeat Orders and Delivery

Volume Quotation and Setup Costs

FLJ quotes the selected assembly revision, production quantity, included services and delivered condition. Board, component, firmware or test changes are connected to the affected preparation and quotation. This keeps the next production run based on its current configuration and supply conditions.

Where staged shipments suit the project, we coordinate partial delivery planning with the quantities and dates required for each shipment.

In through-hole and mixed assembly, we check lead condition, orientation, polarity, seating height and connector alignment.
