PCB & PCBA Acceptance & Traceability

Know what was built, how it was checked and which revision was delivered. We help connect the approved manufacturing package with the acceptance criteria and records your product needs.

Connect the drawing with the acceptance plan

Acceptance defines the conditions used to approve a board or assembly. Traceability links the delivered product with the information and records associated with its manufacture. Together, they support clearer receiving decisions and repeat orders.

A practical plan starts with the product: bare board, assembled PCB or finished electronic build. We review the drawings, selected revisions and relevant inspection criteria, then discuss any first-article approval, test results or outgoing documents your team needs.

Customers can send the information they already have. Our engineering and quality teams help identify the open points and turn them into a usable production and inspection package.

Use the right IPC reference for the build

Bare-board inspection and electronic-assembly inspection address different features. IPC-A-600 is associated with printed-board acceptability; IPC-A-610 is associated with electronic-assembly acceptability. J-STD-001 may also form part of the soldering requirements.

We align the applicable document, revision and class with the order and drawing requirements. A sector description such as medical or automotive does not replace the actual acceptance specification. If your organization has its own workmanship or inspection document, include it in the project review.

Keep revisions visible through production

A build can include several related versions: PCB fabrication files, BOM, placement data, assembly instructions, firmware and the test program. Keeping their release identifiers connected helps the production team build the intended configuration and helps your receiving team identify it.

For repeat orders, we review whether the previous package remains current or whether the board, materials or firmware have changed. Proposed component alternatives are discussed as part of the configuration rather than treated as an invisible purchasing change.

Where a first-article approval point is useful, we can discuss what your team wants to review and how that decision connects with the remainder of the batch.

Plan traceability to match the product

Traceability can be organized around an order, batch or individual assembly. The useful level depends on the product, marking space, reporting needs and test arrangement.

Discuss serial-number marking, lot identification, barcodes and record format with us when they are useful to your workflow. We can review the approach alongside the board layout, assembly steps and test process.

Records connected to the delivered build

If you have a preferred inspection or traceability format, send an example. We can review the information to include and provide available reference documentation for discussion.

Records that support receiving and future builds

A useful outgoing package gives your team the information it will actually use. That may include first-article results, inspection reports, agreed test outcomes or a configuration summary. We discuss the report contents during the order review so they fit the acceptance plan.

If a receiving or field question arises, connected build information helps focus the investigation. Share the product identifier, symptoms and any available test information so the manufacturing and engineering teams can review the relevant construction, material or process details together.

Helpful answers

Frequently asked questions

Can you work with our own acceptance specification?

Send your drawing, inspection document or quality plan. We will review it with the board or assembly scope and discuss the applicable criteria and records.

Can assemblies have serial numbers or batch identification?

We can discuss the marking method and traceability level for your product. Layout space, assembly steps, test arrangements and the records you need help define the approach.

What should we send for a repeat order?

A previous order reference is a useful starting point. Tell us whether the PCB, BOM, firmware or test requirements have changed so we can review the current configuration.
