PCB & PCBA Material Compliance
Connect your material requirements with the manufacturing package. We help review PCB materials, electronic components and assembly consumables alongside the RoHS and REACH documents your product team needs.

What material compliance covers
Material compliance connects the substances in a product with the requirements applicable to its intended market. For PCB and PCBA orders, the review can extend from laminate and surface finish to solder, components, cables and mechanical parts.
Your compliance request may cover a bare board, an assembled circuit or an entire product build. Defining that scope helps us identify the relevant material suppliers and document requests. You can send an existing questionnaire or simply explain what your customer needs; we will discuss the next step.
Material documentation works best when it is tied to the selected part numbers and approved construction. A proposed substitute may affect more than the electrical design, so compliance information should be part of the alternative-component review.
| Manufacturing item | Information that helps the review | Documentation discussion |
|---|---|---|
| PCB laminate and finish | Material grade, construction and chosen surface finish | Material declarations and relevant supplier information |
| Electronic components | Manufacturer part numbers and approved alternatives | Manufacturer or supply-chain declarations |
| Solder and assembly materials | Alloy, paste, flux and other included consumables | Material information associated with the selected process |
| Cables and mechanical parts | Drawings, part numbers and included materials | Declarations for the agreed wider assembly scope |
RoHS documentation for the agreed material scope
RoHS restricts specified hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. A useful manufacturing review connects the customer’s requested declaration with the actual materials and components used in the order.
Lead-free soldering can be included in the assembly route, and board finish selection can be aligned with the product’s soldering and material requirements. The broader compliance discussion also considers the components and other included materials; solder alloy alone does not describe an entire assembly.
If your product uses a specific exemption or customer declaration format, send it with the request. Our team can review it with the selected materials and discuss the evidence available through the sourcing route.
REACH information and supplier declarations
REACH concerns chemicals and substances in the supply chain. For an electronic assembly, customer requests may include substance information for the materials and articles included in the build.
The requested reference date and material scope help make the document review meaningful. Share your REACH or substance-declaration form and the relevant product scope; we can discuss the information needed from material and component suppliers.
If the BOM changes between quotation and production, the documentation review should follow the selected parts. This keeps the compliance file connected to the configuration that is actually manufactured.
Keep alternatives and customer-supplied parts connected
For turnkey sourcing, the BOM and approved alternatives guide procurement. When a substitution is proposed, we discuss the technical choice and associated documentation with you before changing the agreed build.
For customer-supplied components, existing declarations or manufacturer information can travel with the material handoff. Mixed sourcing is also possible: tell us which parts you will provide and which parts we should source so both teams know where the supporting information comes from.
Your own spreadsheet or document format is welcome. You do not need to rebuild the entire package before asking us to review it.
Build a usable compliance package
Tell us the product scope, destination market and documents your receiving or compliance team expects. We can connect that request with material selection, sourcing and the quotation rather than leaving it until shipment.
Supplier declarations, material data and any requested testing serve different purposes. We discuss the appropriate evidence for the order, including arrangements for additional testing where it is part of the project. Your final-product compliance process can then use manufacturing documentation alongside its other design and market-approval work.
Frequently asked questions
Can I send our own RoHS or REACH questionnaire?
Yes. Send your form and explain which boards, assemblies or materials it covers. We will review the request with the manufacturing and sourcing scope.
Is lead-free assembly the same as full material compliance?
Lead-free assembly describes the soldering route. Material compliance also considers the board, components and other materials included in the product.
Can compliance information be reviewed before every part is selected?
Yes. We can start with your available BOM and material requirements, then follow up as part numbers and approved alternatives are confirmed.
